In many baniya households, money is not used for display. It is used for security, growth, and control. There is a simple way of thinking: if your money is visible, it is probably not growing.
Instead of spending to look rich, the focus is on staying financially strong and that changes everything.
I once noticed something interesting in a local market. There were two shop owners. One had a beautifully designed store, bright lights, fancy shelves, everything looked premium. The other had a simple setup, nothing impressive at first glance. But, when I spoke to people around, I found out something surprising. The simpler shop owner actually had better margins, more repeat customers, and stronger savings.
The difference was not luck- it was mindset.
One focused on appearance. The other focused on value. His money went into stock, relationships, and stability… and not decoration.
Today, especially with social media, there is a huge pressure to look successful. People spend on things that signal wealth. Expensive gadgets, clothes, lifestyles. But, the baniya mindset asks a different question. Is this making me richer… or just making me look richer ?
Even as students, this matters. Whether it is how we spend money, how startups use their funds, or how creators invest in growth… the principle is the same.
Do not confuse attention with wealth because at the end of the day…
real wealth is quiet. It does not need an audience !
